Al-hamdu li’Llâh — one praises God for what

In His Nature one with deep wonder loves;

Ash-shukru li’Llâh — one thanks God for what

His Goodness on our poverty bestows.

Allah is good: He is pure Beauty in Itself,

In His Essence, in His pure Being;

And He is good in all that His favor

Gives us anew, day after day.

Thanks — because all things come from the Sovereign Good;

And praise: to consecrate body, soul, and heart to the Truth.

Hamdu lil-Lâh — on loue Dieu pour ce que

L’on aime dans Sa Nature avec émerveillement ;

Shukru lil-Lâh — on Le remercie pour ce que

Sa Bonté accorde à notre indigence.

Allâh est bon : Il est pure Beauté en Soi,

Dans Son Essence, Son pur Être ;

Et Il est bon dans ce que Sa faveur

Veut à nouveau nous accorder, jour après jour.

Gratitude — car toute chose émane du Souverain Bien ;

Et louange : consacrer corps, âme et cœur au Vrai.

Hamdu lil-Lāh — man lobet Gott für das,

Was man in seinem Wesen staunend liebt;

Shukru lil-Lāh — man danket Ihm für das,

Was seine Güte unsrer Armut gibt.

Allāh ist gut: ist Schönheit — ganz an Sich,

In seinem Urgrund, seinem reinen Sein;

Und Er ist gut in dem, was seine Gunst

Uns will von Tag zu Tag aufs Neu verleihn.

Danken — denn alles kommt vom Höchsten Gut;

Und Lob: Leib, Seel und Herz dem Wahren weihn.
