This painting by Frithjof Schuon is reproduced on page 23 of Images of Primordial and Mystic Beauty (Abodes, 1992). The four Plains Indian chiefs greeting each other emphasize one of Schuon’s recurrent themes: human dignity on the spiritual level, which is then manifested in behavior, comportment, dress, etc. The original painting is from 1962 and is 18 by 15 inches.
